MISSION
Pillar #1: Care
"The question is not, how much does the youth know? when he has finished his education, but how much does he care? and about how many orders of things does he care? In fact, how large is the room in which he finds his feet set? and, therefore, how full is the life he has before him."
Charlotte Mason, School Education, pg 171
In a world where modern education is rooted in a power-based philosophy, children are told to learn in order to be more affluent, powerful, or prestigious. Even the intuition of a child can perceive these motivations to be base and inferior. We intentionally place broad ideas, inquisitive wonder, and reverent relationships at the center of our motives when educating a person.
Pillar #2: Grow
"...if we would do our best for our children, grow we must"
The Parents' Review, Volume 3, no. 2
In accordance with a Christian worldview, we believe a child is born a person with eternal potential for growth. An education must provide continual growth in knowledge, skills, and affection, building a person’s relationship with reality. Mastery of the self, apprehension of the created order and knowledge of the true God are all life long endeavors.
Pillar #3: Attend
"The ability to focus the attention at will is the most valuable intellectual habit there is. It's also what distinguishes an educated person."
Charlotte Mason, Philosophy of Education, pg 99
